Brewood and Blymhill – 2 candidates

Bruce Olojede
I am an NHS consultant and I live in Brewood with my wife and 2 children. As a member of the Brewood community for the last 10 years, and an NHS hospital doctor for 16 years, I have a strong desire to make positive changes that will benefit everyone especially those in my local ward.

As someone with a young family, I have experienced the strain that conservative policies have put on our local schools, local health care services and local councils. The NHS is an institution I have great passion for and believe in wholeheartedly. Working on the front line of the NHS and watching its services being slowly eroded has increased my desire to see a change and an improvement from government.

There has been more than enough time to improve things but in fact the opposite has happened. I feel that there is a better option and I believe myself and the labour party are that option

Adrian Hamlyn
I am Adrian and I was a Hospital doctor at Dudley NHS Group. I am now retired and my partner currently works as a surgical nurse, with my daughter an aid worker for UNESCO I lived in South Staffordshire for 43 years. I want to see the end of Tory chaos and locality mismanagement.

Codsall – 2 Candidates

Reg Vernon

I was educated at Aston Commercial School, Birmingham; Wolverhampton Teachers College and Wolverhampton University. I have a BA Geography with English Literature.
My career has been mainly in different forms of communication. For many years I specialised in industrial advertising, PR and marketing and was publicity manager of an engineering company when I was 30. I am a former member of both the British Industrial Marketing Association, the Institute of Marketing and both Wolverhampton and Birmingham Publicity Clubs.

I have lived in Codsall since 1971, happily married to my wife since 1967 with whom I have two sons, both high achievers, and five grandchildren. I offer myself as a prospective Labour Party candidate for election to South Staffordshire District Council and ask for your support. I acknowledge that SSDC has been run prudently and economically in past years and would wish to continue that tradition but it is not good that one political party should hold the reins of power unchallenged for so long. Fresh blood and ideas need to be injected from time to time. I believe that it is now time to challenge Tory domination of local politics in order to release the potential that Labour Party members can offer.

Chris Fewtrell

I’m proud to be one of your Labour candidates for Codsall. I am a writer and former BBC journalist, growing up in Birmingham where I attended my local comprehensive, before going on to read History at The Queen’s College, Oxford. For the last twenty-one years, I’ve lived in and around Codsall, where my wife was born and bred, with my children educated at St. Christopher’s R.C. Primary School.

Codsall is a place I have come to love, particularly the strength of community spirit, whether it be singing around the Christmas Tree in the Square, the St. Nick’s School fireworks or the Codsall Arts and Street Food Festivals to name but a few. However, I have also witnessed community decline, particularly in local infrastructure. Local housing has become unaffordable for young people. I wonder if my own children will be able to afford a home in the community where they grew up.

Such problems arise when one party is in power for too long, reflected in the appalling complacency and incompetence we’ve seen in Westminster. But it’s on our doorstep, too. For too long, unchallenged Tory councillors have taken residents’ support for granted, lavishing millions of pounds of our hard-earned money on vanity projects like the Community Hub – a lovely idea in times of plenty but was it REALLY the best way to spend our Council Tax during an economic slump? When their answer to recycling in the midst of climate crisis is a cheap, flimsy blue bag completely unfit for purpose?

Cheslyn Hay Village – 3 candidates

Alex Brindle

Cheslyn Hay is where I live, work and where I come from. As a child I attend our local high school in Cheslyn hay in which I left in 1999. I still live in the area with my wife and two dauthers which they now attend our local schools Glenthorne primary & Cheslyn Hay High School.
My company I run is based in Cheslyn hay and we employee local office staff & engineers. I’ts now time for change for our village no more Tory sleaze & back handers.

Adam Freeman

I am the Labour Party’s candidate for the new seat of Cheslyn Hay Village. I am standing for District Council as I see this as the natural next step for some one who has stood for Parliament twice for this area. I got to know residents concerns and spoke out on how the District Council has the chance to represent us all and become abeacon for the challenges we face as a District – climate change, productivity, housing pressures and the need for more skilled jobs.
I have lived in South Staffordshire my whole life and in 2016 I completed a Master’s in International Heritage Management. Since then I have worked in Shropshire for a National Museum and love speaking to every visitor and giving children the chance to explore and appreciate our imporant national story. It is time for our District Council to have fresh leadership and succesfull people from other sectors to join the Council and give our area the best future possible.

Anil Singh

I am Anil and I serve the local community by being Secretary to
various charitable bodies. I campaign nationally to end ‘rip-off’ service charges by big landlords. I believe in better public services
for local people, especially as we face a rising cost of living crisis, higher mortgages due to Tory failed budgets, and rising energy bills.

I am standing because when I moved, there was no opportunity to Vote Labour as we did not have candidates and the Conservative administration fails locally and nationally. Potholes are the responsibility of a Tory run County Council and their policy of only repairing them when the costs of compensation are high is a disservice to local residents. I am happily married with three sons who live and work in various parts of the UK.

Featherstone, Shareshill and Saredon – 1 candidate

John Brindle
My name is John Brindle. I was born and raised in Featherstone. I have been married for 44 years and am a proud family man with three adult children and 6 grandchildren, in addition to being a foster father for 10 years.
I attended the local schools and worked in my youth on neighbouring farms. I worked for the National Coal Board on leaving school as an apprentice. After years of College study and hard work I became one of the youngest deputies in charge of shot firing, (explosives) health and safety underground. I am also proud to have served in the British Miners Rescue Service for 17 years.
In 1999 I started a company called “Diamond Fire Extinguishers”, which services and sells extinguishers and fire safety equipment, based in Cannock. The company at present employs 19 local people. I passed this successful company onto my sons and daughter to continue its growth while I enjoy semi-retirement.
I have been active in the community having served as both a Parish Councillor for over 38 years and District Councilor for 8 years. My interest in education led me to become a school governor, a post I held for 35 years.
Active member of the Featherstone & Hilton Community Centre. I want to help grow and protect our village, starting with obtaining funding for our youth clubs.

Great Wyrley Landywood – 2 candidates

Paul Alexander

My name is Paul and I have lived most of my life in South Staffordshire. I am happily married with two children. I am a financial specialist. I have decided to stand because of the contempt shown by the Conservatives towards working people. I want a decent future for my children who have suffered under this Tory Government.

Wayne Instone

For the last decade I have been running the local branch of Unison with responsibility for around three thousand local members. I have skilled in employment law and contract law and my role is to negotiate policies and procedures that offer the best and fairest deal for employees. I represent individuals in all aspects of their employment. My job comes with huge responsibilities but gives me tremendous satisfaction.

I moved to Great Wyrley Landywood four years ago with my wife Emma and our two daughters. We were warmly welcomed by everyone and we have built up close friendships with some great people. My day job gives me the skills to be a very effective District Councillor and I want to offer my services to my friends and neighbours by putting myself forward to fight their corner as their local Councillor.

Great Wyrley Town – 2 candidates

John Jones

I have served Great Wyrley for 30 years as a Councillor including as Chairman of the Parish Council.
I am standing for District Council as I wish to repair the damaging and poor financial running of the Conservative run Council and stand up for all of the services the District Council provied and ensure residents get best value for their money.
I am a proud member of the local community of volunteer’s that helped with the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccine over the two years whilst it was held in Great Wyrley.

Brian Levy

I obtained a First Class Degree in Psychology before reading for my Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology at Birmingham University. After a period of movement I moved to Walsall where I assumed the role of head of Adult Mental Health. At around this time, I studied for my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My focus was on the assessment of the risk of violence in locked psychiatric wards.
I was promoted to become the head of service for Psychology and Psychological Therapies where I was the Associate Director until my retirement in 2015.
I have lived in Churchbridge, Great Wyrley for 10 years and am commited to our local community.
Last year I qualified as a vaccinator to assist with the delivery of the Covid vaccine.
I have a variety of different interests. I am passionate about politics and believe that our great country is capable of so much more under the right leadership and a competent government who are committed to social justice.
I am interested in all aspects of aviation and have a pilot’s licence.

Huntington and Hatherton – 2 candidates

Jeff Ashley

I was previously the District Councillor for this seat as Huntington for the past 28 years and 12 years for Hatherton. In this time I have served as leader of the opposition on South Staffordshire Council. A member of the Planning Committee, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Personal Development Review and Appointment Board, a Challenge Panel member, Wellbeing Select Committee, and the Local Joint Committee. I have dealt with many personal housing issues concerning residents, anti-social behaviour and litter problems on our estates and has attended Locality 1 meetings with Staffordshire Police and raised various important matters on behalf of residents. If elected I will use my experience to be a voice for residents and will continue to support everyone with personal problems and scrutinise all major future challenges to our two parishes.

Ron Kenyon

My Name is Ron Kenyon. I was born in Huntington and had the
privilege of representing the people of Huntington on the
Parish Council for some twenty years working closely together with other councillors to develop the play area, Memorial Garden & Leisure Park.
I would now ask for your vote in the forthcoming election to
represent you on the District Council so I can be in the position to improve and protect the area of Huntington & Hatherton with further development plans being put forward.

Penkridge South and Gailey – 1 candidate

Alan Smallwood

I am Alan and I have lived in the village for over forty years. I am currently your Parish Councillor for the South, who as Chairman campaigned to keep our village library.

As Vice Chair of the Recreation Committee we have refurbished the play areas at Bellbrook and Heron Park. I am keen to ensure Penkridge has a voice in proposed developments at both District and Parish level.

Wombourne South – 3 candidates

Denis Beaumont

I have lived in Wombourne South for 44 years. I love this village and its people and wish to serve them. I am active in a number of local organisations and before my retirement I was a Teacher and Church Worker locally. I believe in this village and I can contribute to its future.

Vicky Boswell

I have lived in Wombourne all of my life and I currently work in the NHS as a neonatal nurse. I love Wombourne because it has a strength local community. I have volunteered as a girl guiding leader for over ten years in Wombourne.
I am standing for the Council because of the hypocrisy of the Government for clapping for key workers during Covid, but not giving us the resources and pay we deserve.

Theresa Vaccaro

I am a member of the Labour Party because they instituted the National Health Service, which helps nearly all of us from pregnancy and infancy through to our senior years.
I am a Biomedical Graduate and I have worked in a Pathology department, and in Schools as a piano Accompanist. I am standing for Wombourn South Ward to South Staffs District Council, because I want each Resident to get the most out of our village.
Namely, that Claimants of Universal Credit will get more ready access to food supplies, from Wombourne food bank; and that I will work to reduce energy prices; that I will report all potholes and dangerous pavements known to myself, by the established protocol, to the Council for their repair; and that all Adults of Wombourne may beautify their gardens and pick up litter, to make us more likely to win the Best Kept Village competition

Wombourne North – 2 candidates

Chris Wood

I have worked as a frontline healthcare worker for 22 years and I have witnessed the rise and fall of the healthcare system in that time.

I am a family man with three secondary school children. I am standing for Labour because I want to fight for a fair future for our children.

Margaret Davison

Pattingham, Trysull Bobbington and Lower Penn – 1 candidate

Nick Hill

Having been born and raised in Pattingham, with family, friends and work colleagues that live in Lower Penn and Bobbington. I am proud to stand as your Labour candidate for the upcoming District Council elections. I have been a parish councillor for a number of years now, and one of the frustrating things I have found while serving is how often parishioners come to the parish council for help with problems that are the responsibility of the District council. Since 1974 our District Council has been run by the same administration and it is time for NEW LEADERSHIP in our areas as well as the country. My pledges come with a statement of intent that should you vote for me as your council representative, not only will I be your voice demanding the council pay more attention to our seemingly forgotten villages, but a promise to be available, approachable and accountable for my actions as your councillor.
